This print was inspired by my large drawing installation at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. I wanted to make an all over linework print that was different to the install but shared a feeling. The title comes from a line my six-year-old daughter wrote in one of the comics she loves to make: “In the dark I feel calm.” This phrase reflects the intention behind the AGWA installation and captures the sense of comfort and stillness I find in my art practice—the quiet, happy place that drawing allows me to enter.
